In 1956, 20 years after the introduction of paid holidays, family and union campaigners created the VTF Association at Thionville, in Lorraine, with the “right to holidays for all” as its founding principle. VTF is for everyone, without any religious or racial distinctions. Based on the “solidarity” concept, we also take family size into consideration to offer decreasing rates according to the children’s ages, and we continue to offer holiday packages at low prices.
The Headquarters of VTF are at Thionville in Moselle and the VTF Association comes under local law in application of the 1908 Act.
The original model on which VTF is based, the social economy - a non-market economy in which capital and work are not bound together - is an instrument of social coherence, discovery and personal enrichment.
It’s a modern answer to the political, economic and social reality, and one to which the VTF Association has been committed since 1956, in a way that is responsible and respectful of the host locations and people. The will to advance this Social and Family Tourism so that it is recognized as one of the major contributors to tourist activity in the regions, in France and all over the world, drives VTF to work with others to ensure its continuation.

Its board of directors, composed of volunteers, defines the political orientation of the association and controls its general running.
Management is provided by a team of permanent or seasonal employees who perform the various tasks required for the proper operation of the organization.
The political organizational structure of VTF is built around an Annual General Meeting which validates the general policy and approves the accounts, a board of directors which works on the major strategies and an executive committee which consults management and decides on actions. Finally, to ensure the proper running of the structure, task management is provided by a team of permanent or seasonal employees.
The model is based on an active investment policy by seeking investors suitable for the social project, the development of realistic budgets to provide linear quality of service, carefully ensuring consistency of development across the whole chain, and the diversification of heritage which includes the choice to be either owner or manager, a management model that makes it possible to reduce and contain general costs and rental or property expenses.
The social model is based on social mixing of the various demographics of guest, a source of discovery and cultural exchanges, a flat-rate pricing system based on income, children’s ages and seasonal variation, a human resources policy that includes back-to-work schemes: sandwich year training, skills development and progress of employees in the company. And finally, the model is also based on the economic impact in the host regions in matters of employment, regional development and the local economy, thanks to the patronage of our holidaymakers.
